Quality over quantity I guess!Ĭlick to expand.I don't have that experience with regards to dull sounding. The gain, compressor and de-esser sections are what makes it, in my experience, a must have! It's a good thing I recently added an Octo to my setup, because it's eating DSP cycles for breakfast. Overall I believe it's an amazing plugin which I probably can't resist that long to add to my lovely UAD plugin collection. The EQ section sounds great as well, but I have to admit that I had to put an other EQ behind the VOXBOX to get the tone I aimed for, but I can imagine it will be enough in many situations. The de-esser is potentially the best de-esser in any plugin, but I have to admit that I probably have not tried all de-esser plugins on the planet. The compressor managed to tame the dynamics without virtually any nasty side effects, it simply made the vocal sound so much better. My initial impression is that I seriously love this plugin! By increasing the gain section, I managed to infuse the vocal with a subtle amount of distortion, which in turn made the vocal sit even better inside the mix. I opened an existing mix of mine and tried to re-do the lead vocal with the VOXBOX.
